OBJECTS HERE MAY BE CLOSER/FARTHER THAN THEY APPEAR (2024)
NARRATIVE INTRODUCTION
A journey home is now a true test of patience. I find myself drifting through airports, train stations, and crowded buses, surrounded by people from every background. Each of us has our reasons—some returning, some leaving, maybe for good. You fly to the nearest neighboring country, then switch to wheels or rails, the road dragging on longer than it should, wearing you down with every kilometer. By the time I finally arrive, I’m knackered, starving, and just desperate for rest.
As you move closer to war, you enter places where you don’t make long-term plans—where you’re simply thankful to be alive today, to be safe, to have a place to sleep. The war is unmistakable, woven into everything around me. This is the reality I keep trying to escape, yet here it is, unavoidable. War has been constant, day after day, for longer than I can count—far too long. What day is it now?
